MEET PIPER

Meet Piper.

Piper is my daughter.

My wife Ashlie and I have 3 children. Our oldest son Charlie turns 5 on Friday, and our youngest son Henry is 3. Piper, is 25 weeks along and is due to be born on July 15th 2015. You may remember this from my announcement around Christmas. We have kept Piper’s name a secret and planned on telling you her name when she was born – as sort of a surprise to accompany the birth news. However we think now is the best time to share her name with you. She could really use your prayers.

Yesterday, Ashlie began experiencing complications and was admitted into the hospital. We have found out that her water has broken a small amount… a leak, if you will, of amniotic fluid that has put her at high risk for early labor. After having consultations with several doctors we have learned a lot about these types of situations and have a pretty clear outlook for what to expect.

Currently, doctors are planning on Ashlie staying in the hospital until she reaches 34 weeks (If she does not go into labor before then.) At that point they feel that labor will be ideal given the situation.  If that all plays out, Piper will be born on May 26th... 6 weeks early. That is what we are praying for. The next 9 weeks are going to present some major challenges for our family. Of course our first priority is giving Piper the best chance to remain inside her mommy’s belly for as long as possible.

We also have started trying to figure how we are going to balance everything else going on in our lives. Charlie is in pre-school, Ashlie is in law school, I’m leading worship, touring, the radio station, etc. We’re going to still try and do as much of it as we can, but we know we have limits.

We consider you all family, and you have supported us so much over the years I’ll try to keep you updated as much as I can. Right now we are taking it day by day. We feel the most out-of-control we have ever felt, and to be honest, we’re pretty scared. But every day Piper stays inside gives her an even better chance, and we are believing that God will protect and strengthen us all until we meet.

Thank you for taking the time to pray for Piper and Ashlie. They are my girls.

-Cody

Cody,
I am wrapping you all in prayer right now. God will take care of Piper and each and every one of you. There is a promise for a future that we can't even imagine. (Jeremiah 29:11, in my words). Keep strong, don't let the evil one dwell... In Jesus name......

Cody, Ashlie, Charlie, Henry and Piper:
Everyone is in my prayers. I know you guys don't know me that we'll but I have been blessed to get to know Charlie over the art few years in Children's ministries. I am only a phone call away no matter what it is. Even if it means staying the night with the boys while Cody stays at the hospital. You have my full support.

With love, Heather

Dear Cody and family,
Praying for all of you. I had to be on bedrest for 7 weeks . I developed preeclampsia at 27 weeks. It was a scary time but I see that God had His hand on me and my little Samuel. He still came early at 34 weeks but even though he was 5'13 oz. he did great. A little time in the NICU. That was such a difficult time to
TRUST in God, accept help that was offered and lean in Jesus as never before. Now my Sam is 14 5ft. 9inches. Does great on his swim team and was such a blessed addition to our family! God is good! Will pray daily! You are resting in his everlasting arms!

Cody & Ashlie
I will defiantly add you all to my prayers! Sometimes the saying 'God doesn't give us more than we can handle' seems to come at the wrong time. But have faith medical science has came a long way over the years. I'm sure the Drs and nurses are making sure Ashlie and Piper are getting the best care possible.

15 months ago I was in your exact same shoes. My water broke at 31 weeks. I sat in memorial for 3 weeks and was induced at 34 weeks. I never developed any infection and my baby boy didn't spend one second in nicu. I pray your nurses are as awesome as mine were. That you will be able to share God's hope in a ward that is full of hopeless girls. That you will have no infection. Baby will grow strong. Baby will be a good eater, maintain body temp and blood sugars when she comes. God is faithful and supremely in control and able.

Cody- Even though my family and I no longer live in the North Central Indiana area, I consider that part of the country home-always will. All of the WFRN family is part of MY family-and their struggles are my struggles. I will be praying for Piper and Ashlie, and for you and you precious boys. God will protect you in every decision and keep all of you safe. God bless all of you and keep you. God will make sure that all of you are not ever alone. Take care and God Bless All of you!

I read this as I hold onto my baby boy. His due date was yesterday, but he was born 8 weeks ago. Our goal was 34 weeks also- we made it to 32. God walked beside us every step of our journey and sent prayer warriors and friends with food, care, and hugs. Our other three children continued to feel loved and cared for every day. I am absolutely certain He will do the same for you and your family. Take it one day at a time and know many are praying without ceasing.
